Jennifer
Liang, a founding trustee, has a post graduate
degree in social work from TISS and has specialized in social research methods.
She has worked directly on health and women’s issues in Assam and has been
helping a number of NGOs in the northeast. A founder trustee, she also works
part-time for Ashoka Innovators for the Public in selecting potential Ashoka
fellows.
Sunil Kaul
, a founding trustee, is a public health
activist who worked as a medical doctor in the army for some years, and then
left his job to work for primary health care in rural areas of Rajasthan and
Assam. Also a founding trustee, he is interested in community health especially
with respect to malaria and T.B.
V K Madhavan,
is currently the Executive Director of CHIRAG, a NGO working in Himalayan state
of Uttaranchal. He has been the Secretary of
Urmul Setu, a rural NGO in Rajasthan for
many years and has also worked with well known International NGOs like
ActionAid and The Hunger Project.
Our founding trustees also include Shri Rabindranath
Upadhyay, a known Sarvodaya worker who has since 1962,
worked in Nalbari district of Assam in rural upliftment through Khadi and
village industries. He has a vast experience and is associated with a number of
organisations at the regional and national levels. Shri R N Upadhyay also won
the presitigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Social work for 2003.
Jyoti Basumatary is a
lecturer at Bongaigaon College and teaches Bodo language. He is also the editor
of a bimonthly newsletter Agan Se, which means "first step."
